Day Risk Profile

Low

Avalanche Problems

No avalanche problems reported.

The snowpack is stable. Conditions are favourable.

Avalanche Activity

Low avalanche danger will prevail. Wind slabs require caution.

Individual Locations delineated by aspect or altitude where avalanches can trigger and people or objects are at risk.EAWS glossary for dry avalanches are to be found in particular on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m and adjacent to ridgelines. The wind slabs are covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise. Apart from the danger of being buried, restraint should be exercised as well in view of the danger of avalanches sweeping people along and giving rise to falls.

Outlook

Increasing avalanche danger

16 February 2026

In some regions increase in danger as a consequence of new snow and wind.

Snowpack & Weather

Snowpack
5 to 15 cm of snow will fall until late morning. The wind will be light to moderate. The small wind slabs of Thursday are bonding only slowly with the Snow layers deposited from earlier precipitation, prior to fresh fallen snow. Old snow layers consist of metamorphosed snow crystals.EAWS glossary on very steep shady slopes above approximately 2200 m. They will be covered with new snow in some cases and therefore difficult to recognise. The old snowpack consists of Snow grains, solid, with multiple flat glassy faces and sharp edges. Developed from faceting metamorphism, usually poorly bonded to one another (fewer contact points), a critical factor in avalanches if a faceted layer is covered with bonded snow. Typical grain size: 0.5 to 3 mm See also: www.snowcrystals.itEAWS glossary. The Snow deposited on the ground in a multiplicity of layers.EAWS glossary will be generally subject to considerable local variations. Only a little snow is lying in all altitude zones.
